What is Zooglea?
Zooglea is a slimy mass of microorganisms, including bacteria, algae, fungi, and other organic materials. It thrives in dark, warm, wet environments—which makes your HVAC system the perfect home for it.
Why Zooglea is a Problem
Once Zooglea gets inside, it forms a thick biofilm that sticks to surfaces within your HVAC system:
• Ducts
• Coils
• Drain lines
• Condensate pans

Left untreated, this slimeball can cause:
• HVAC system inefficiency
• Clogged condensate drain lines
• Emergency system shutdowns
• Costly water damage from overflowing drain pans
Zoogy doesn’t just cause inconvenience—it can lead to catastrophic AC damage if ignored.

HOMEOWNER FAQs
What is DRAIN IV and why do I need it?
DRAIN IV is a HVAC condensate drain line conditioning system that helps prevent bacteria from growing in the drain that forms into clogs. If you live in a climate that you run your air conditioning, you will have condensate that is sent to a sewer drain or the exterior of your home. With aluminum being the makeup on the modern coils, you have a high chance of bacteria festering in your drain line. When unattended to, a clog can form, causing condensate to backup into your system and possibly causing damage to your home.

Yes, the diluted concentrate is safe for septic systems. It does not harm the beneficial bacteria within the system and can even help break down soap scum and grease that might clog pipes.
Is the fluid coming out of the condensate drainpipe safe for pets and wildlife?
The solution we use is a gentle acid, applied at a safe dose of 30ml (1 oz or 1/8th cup) every 2 days. This amount mixes with condensate from the coil in the drain trap, becoming even more diluted. Rest assured, by the time it flows out of the drainpipe, it’s completely harmless to animals!
